Our School

East Kalgoorlie Primary School welcomes students from the entire city of Kalgoorlie-Boulder. 98% of our students are Aboriginal and we have an average enrolment of around 150 students.

The school is committed to developing innovative strategies to address disadvantage and poor academic outcomes of Aboriginal students. In 2014 an Exemplary Performance Enquiry was conducted at the school endorsing the success of the school’s work in relation to relationships and the learning environment. The school was selected to become an Independent Public School in 2015.

As 2015 was the school’s first year as an Independent Public School. We developed a highly productive School Board, our Board continues to assist the school to make strategic decisions and benefit from the input of our partner agencies.

The school is structured around a focus on intensive support in the Early Years and a dedicated Health, Wellbeing and Family Support Division with the strong support of various local government and non-government agencies.

The outcomes of our holistic approach continue to be reflected in improved oral communication and on-entry results with a slow but steady decrease in students below benchmark on entry to compulsory schooling. We are also encouraged by our ear health results of which show a definite decrease in ear infections and chronic poor ear health.
