Family Support

Our Family Support programme grew from the realisation that addressing health alone would not achieve long-term change. Families are supported based on a needs analysis and address the following areas:

• Housing and accommodation
• Family health
• Parenting
• Employment
• Youth Justice
• Social Support

The school refers families to other agencies, after the initial engagement. The on-going connection between services has proven to be the most challenging for some families, and the school is working with services to support families in the on-going connection between these services.

This programme is administered by the Deputy Principal and is staffed by a Family Support Officer and addresses the needs of families on an internal referral basis. Needs addressed through this service included accessing Centrelink benefits, employment support, housing issues and a parenting programme.

The Health and Family Support staff are located in the Administration area.
